Marriage and Family Relationships

U3 Essay 2

U5 Essay 1

These assignments show the overall tone of this class and demonstrate what we are learning with our opinions towards the topics. When you read them you can see the diversity and what this class has been contributing to our objectives and real lives. They show the progress to becoming well rounded students, that is the goal for me and I’m sure the goal for SLCC.

It’s amazing how many classes overlap and connect into each other, they really show you how it can be applied in our lives. For instance I took a criminal justice class and a sociology class that each talked about human behaviors that are common in both fields, I had to many times remind me which class I was doing the assignment for because they were in a lot of ways relatable. This class connects them all together, because they all in some way deal with relationships. I’m glad that I took this class last, it really summed it all up in what they all only touched on a little bit.

The class assignments showed that with any of the topics that there was a pro or con to either problem. Everything is not always black and white so we were able to explore both sides, but still decide what was best. Many times I assumed that I knew the answer to questions and I was wrong, I’m sure that ignorance is something we all struggle with and can always work on.

Most of the time I would decide what topic I wanted to talk about and then I would research it in the textbook. Then I would answer the questions that she had given us and tried to make a paper that made sense to read. I was able to pretty much do this process for all the assignments.

The assignments are the highlight of what we learned and especially what I learned. It shows our growth in that topic, whether what we learned about that topic, or see how I related it into my everyday life. This is probably the most important part, taking what we learn so that we can change our attitudes in society to make it better.

When you read them you will see that they illustrate the change in my opinions or attitude. I hope that you can see that its progression for the better. We all are different people and have different opinions, religions, and values, but its important for us to explore all the options before we judge or set up prejudices. That was the ultimate goal of this class and I think opened the eyes of many people.
